Cancer Screening Programme Economic and Business Case
What is the economic case for investing in national cancer screening, and is the programme moving people from screening to treatment?
The question
What is the economic case for investing in national cancer screening, and is the programme moving people from screening to treatment?
What we did
We built the economic and business case for the national cancer screening programme. We measured screening coverage across the target population, the referral of positive results to diagnostic services, and the share of referred patients who start treatment within 30 days.
Methods
- Facility record audits
- Patient tracking
- Clinical record sampling
- Cost-benefit analysis
Decision-makers received a defensible, numbers-based foundation for investment that frames early detection as sound economics as well as sound public health.
